Vincent Sermeno

Dr. Vincent Sermeno, D.C. which means he is a Doctor of Chiropractic. He has been teaching at ELC for over 8 years now and has been working at his Chiropractic practice for 8 years as well. He loves teaching and being a Chiropractor. His mission in the world is to improve as many lives as possible, and he hopes to do that as a teacher.

 

Dr. Sermeno's courses provide comprehensive education in medical terminology and healthcare practices. The curriculum is designed to expose students to a wide variety of medical professions and teaches them how to succeed in any healthcare environment. His students also gain experience in first aid and emergency procedures, injury diagnosis and treatment, and promoting overall health and nutrition. Vanessa Valenzuela

Ms. Valenzuela is in her second year at ELC, as well as in her second year teaching. Prior to teaching, she was a Special Ed Assistant. She has her BS in Applied Psychology and is working towards an MS in Psychology.

Ms. Valenzuela's class offers a CTE program to students in middle school through high school. These students have the opportunity to engage with healthcare, mental health, and social work professions, giving them a solid foundation in the skills required for these fields. Our middle-school level program provides an introduction to Healthcare Careers, while our 10th-grade program focuses on Behavioral and Mental Health. In the 11th grade, students take Social Work and Health Advocacy, educating them on the issues that surround health and healthcare in our country. Mr. Barber has been teaching Social Studies and Career Technical Education since 1995.  He was the second person to ever coach boys basketball at ELC.  Mr. Barber was also Lead Teacher of the information Technology Academy for about 5 years.

 

Mr. Barber received his Bachelor of Arts in 20th Century European and US History  at CSULB.  He received his Social Studies teaching credential from CSULB as well. Mr. Barber holds two Career Technical Education Credentials in Business & Finance and in Marketing, Sales, & Service.  Mr. Barber also holds a Masters Degree from National University in Instructional Technology. Scott Barber

Michael Chae

Currently in his 6th year of teaching, Mr. Chae has been teaching Information and Communication courses at Elizabeth Learning Center since 2017. His background consists of working in the tech industry for various web development, digital marketing/advertising, and technology staffing companies, in addition to teaching overseas. Mr. Chae finds fulfillment in his life by helping to shape the youth all while sharing his passion for technology with his students.

 

Mr. Chae teaches 3 courses: Comp Prog 1 (10th), New Media 1 (11th), and Comp Sci & Programming (12th). Comp Prog 1: This is an introductory course which explores the world of computer science. Students will learn the foundation of computers and computing, basic programming concepts through the programming of games and animation, 3d modeling and printing, electronics and circuitry, HTML and CSS, and various professional tools used in the workforce; New Media 1: This course focuses on digital media and the various knowledge, skills, and tools required to create them. Students will gain hands on experience with a diverse range of professional digital media tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Students will also learn advanced web/app design and development in addition to becoming proficient with more advance 3d modeling and rendering software; Comp Sci & Programming: This course will teach students computer science principles and more advanced programming with the JavaScript programming language. Students will also learn advance design principles and processes. Furthermore, students will learn how to use Microsoft Excel and have an opportunity to gain a Microsoft certification in it.
